ELIZABETHTOWN- East Bladen’s No. 1 doubles team of seniors Jackson Bostic and Will Hester won 2 matches Wednesday to advance to Thursday’s Three Rivers Conference Class 2A Tournament Championship.
Bostic & Hester will meet the winner of the semifinal match between Whiteville’s Zander Burton & Bryce Kronenwetter and Fairmont’s Eduardo Perez & Michael Hawkins in championship match.
The East Bladen duo received a 1st round bye Wednesday morning then easily dispatched of South Columbus’ Brisson & McRay 6-0-6-1. In the semifinals, Bostic & Hester defeated the St. Pauls team of Victor Martinez & Jonathan Angeles Cabrera 7-5, 6-0.
In singles play Wednesday, East Bladen freshman Jair McElveen dropped his opening match to Whiteville’s Trett Walker 6-0, 6-1. Another Eagle freshman Blaine Pope was eliminated in his 1st round match 6-0, 6-1 by Red Springs’ A. Camera.
Whiteville’s Maddox Soles will play Fairmont’s Landon Boeshore in one singles semifinal, and Fairmont’s Javian Manning will meet St. Pauls’ David Estrada in the other semifinal.
The tournament will continue Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the East Bladen tennis courts.
