We need rain!!!!!
.04 inches at the Curtis Brown Airport between 11 p.m. and midnight last night … No evidence of any at the Hester household, (south-southwest of Elizabethtown) … but maybe … just maybe…
Yesterday’s high temp was recorded at the airport at 4:55 p.m. … 96 degrees…
Walked around our house late yesterday, grass dry, beginning to turn brown and crackle as I walked around … Weather forecast for today, bout like yesterday … A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 92.
Next best chance after tonight is Friday night … a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night, Saturday and on thru Sunday…
Years ago when it was this dry, we stopped plowing … concern that all we were doing was stirring the soil and losing any moisture we may have … Today, much no-till … not sure of approach … My farming days go back to early to mid 50s … lots of change since then … a horse and a mule and a youngster … me or a brother … no tractor…
Not sure which is worse … to little is better than to much … sad sight, a drowned tobacco patch.
A reminder, a burning ban began at noontime yesterday … careful…
Have been told several blueberry patches suffered damage during the recent hail storm…
Congratulations for the graduates, high school and college … You are needed in the work force … Jobs are available…
