CERRO GORDO –Britt Sasser and Carson Gooden combined to pitch a 2-hit shutout and strike out 5 batters as unbeaten East Bladen posted its 9th straight victory 7-0 over West Columbus in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action.

Sasser started and pitched 3 innings allowing a hit and 3 walks while striking out two. Gooden relieved and worked 3 innings on the mound allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three.

Marlan Davis, Weston Hatcher, Zamar Lewis and Garrison Tatum drew walks in the Eagle 1st inning that forced home Davis with the game’s 1st run. Parker Greene’s fielder’s choice plated Hatcher, Darius Williamson knocked in Lewis with a single that pushed the lead to 3-0.

Davis and Hatcher drew 2nd inning walks for the Eagles and raced home when Lewis belted a 2-run single that padded the lead to 5-0.

Sasser hammered a 3rd inning double, and Davis drew another walk. Tyler Johnson walloped a triple that scored Sasser and Davis to stretch the Eagle lead to 7-0.

Tatum batted 2-for-2 with a run batted in to lead the East Bladen hitters. Johnson smashed the 2-run triple. Sasser slammed the double and scored a run. Lewis smacked the 2-run single and scored a run.

Williamson smacked a run-scoring single. Gooden and Natoren Corbett connected for 1 hit each for the winners. Davis walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. Hatcher drew 2 walks and scored 2 runs. Greene drove in a run.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles raised their record to 4-0 in Three Rivers play and 9-0 overall and will travel to Fairmont Friday for a 4 p.m. game.
