FAIRMONT – Lee Barnes pitched a 5-hit shutout and struck out 8 batters, and unbeaten East Bladen pounded out 21 hits to wallop Fairmont 19-0 in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action Friday.

Marlin Davis led off the game with a walk and raced home when Garrison Tatum drilled a triple to right-center field. Weston Hatcher drove in Tatum with a single, and Parker Greene knocked in Hatcher with a single. Britt Sasser belted a single that scored Greene for a 4-0 Eagle lead.

Davis drew a 1-out walk in the 2nd inning, and Tatum clobbered another triple that plated Davis. Hatcher laced a single that scored Tatum and padded the lead to 6-0.

Sasser and Jake Futrell cracked singles to begin the Eagle 3rd inning but both were forced at 3rd base by Barnes and Nathan Howell. Davis and Tatum drew walks that forced home Barnes. Hatcher delivered a 2-run single that scored Howell and Davis.

Zamar Lewis crushed a 3-run home run over the left-center field fence that plated Tatum and Hatcher. Greene smacked a single and sprinted home when Sasser swatted a single to stretch the East lead to 13-0.

Howell, Natoren Corbett, Jmarius Smith and Darius Williamson smashed consecutive 1-out singles in the Eagle 4th inning and all 4 of them scored. Smith and Williamson drove in runs. One out later Tyler Johnson, Gooden and Futrell followed with back-to-back-to-back run-scoring singles. Johnson also scored to grow the lead to 18-0.

Corbett reached on a passed 3rd strike in the 5th inning. Smith ripped a single, and Kalec Autry’s fielder’s choice brought home Corbett with the final run.

Hatcher finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, 4 runs batted and 2 runs scored, and Sasser batted 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Tatum hammered 2 triples, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs. Smith turned in a 2-for-2 game, an RBI and a run scored. Greene batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Howell batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, and Futrell was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lewis slugged the 3-run home run. Corbett, Williamson, Johnson and Gooden contributed 1 hit each. Davis scored 3 runs, Corbett scored 2 runs, and Williamson, Johnson and Barnes scored 1 run each. Williamson, Johnson, Autry and Gooden had 1 RBI each.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles raised their record to 5-0 in Three Rivers play and 10-0 overall and will host St. Pauls Tuesday at 4 p.m.
