Chason Harris and Connor Smith scored the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning as the BlueClaws outlasted the GreenJackets 10-9 Wednesday night in Dixie Boys Baseball action.

The victory moved the BlueClaws into 1st place in the league with a 4-1 record, and the GreenJackets finished their season with a 4-2 mark. The BlueClaws are scheduled to play the RedBirds Friday night.

Harris was placed at 2nd base to begin the 9th inning as part of the league’s tiebreaking procedure, and Smith, Tredon Scott, Justin Spaulding and Aiden Russ drew walks to force home Harris and Smith.

Davion Lewis was placed at 2nd base to start the GreenJacket ninth. Walks to Darius Williamson, Colton Daly and Natoren Corbett forced home Lewis, but 2 strikeouts and a put-out ended the game.

Russ led off the game with a walk and raced home when Gavin Elks belted a single. The GreenJackets answered in the home first as Lewis drilled a single and scored the tying run on an error.

The BlueClaws exploded for 5 runs in the 2nd inning to take a 6-1 lead. Harris, Smith and Spaulding drew walks, and Scott reached base on an error – all 4 of them scored. Russ belted a 2-run single and sprinted home when Elks walloped a triple.

The GreenJackets battled back with 6 runs in the fifth. Daly and Corbett smacked singles, and Colby Sasser walked. Isaiah Lee knocked in Daly with a single, Braylon Cromartie walked, and Logan McKoy cracked a 2-run single that plated Sasser and Lee.

Torrean Cogdell walked, and Claxton Tatum slammed a double that scored Cromartie, McKoy and Cogdell to vault the GreenJackets in front 7-6.

Scott walked to begin the BlueClaw 7th, and Russ laced a single. Both runners raced home to edge the BlueClaws ahead 8-7 as Elks reached base on an error.

Lee and Cromartie drew walks to start the home 7th, and Lee dashed home with the tying run.

Cade Allen pitched the 1st 4 innings for the BlueClaws and allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out six. Russ came on to strike out 6 batters in relief.

Tatum started on the hill for the GreenJackets and struck out 2 batters in 1.1 innings. Lewis pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief and gave up 2 hits while striking out three. Daly worked 4 innings of relief to finish up and struck out four.

Elks batted 2-for-2 with a triple and 2 runs batted in to lead the BlueClaw hitters. Russ finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Harris doubled and scored twice. Chace Butler and Kewone Maynor connected for 1 hit each. Smith and Scott scored 2 runs each, and Spaulding scored a run and had an RBI.

Tatum slugged the 3-run double for the GreenJackets. Lewis, Daly, Corbett, Sasser, Lee and McKoy belted 1 hit each. Lewis and Lee scored 2 runs each. Cogdell, Daly, Sasser, Cromartie and McKoy scored 1 run each. McKoy drove in 2 runs, and Corbett and Lee had RBIs.
