Every Thursday, the BladenOnline Team publishes a new video with recipes. Thanking you all for your support on the German Chocolate Cake video, Nicole, Charlotte, Paul, and Danna prepared another delicious Cake. In last week’s video, the team prepared Mississippi Cake!

Following are the ingredients and directions the team gave in the video.

Ingredients:

For the cake base:

Baking dish 16×11
Two cups of sugar.
1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Two cups of plain flour.
One stick of margarine or butter.
One cup of water.
Five tablespoons of cocoa.
One half a cup of buttermilk.
One teaspoon of vanilla.
One teaspoon of baking soda.
Two eggs.

Cake Frosting:

One stick of margarine of butter
Four tablespoons of cocoa
1/3 cup of milk
One box of powdered sugar.
One tablespoon of vanilla.
One cup chopped pecans
One pinch of salt

Instructions:

Cake base:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Sift together in a large bowl two cups of sugar, a 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and two cups of plain flour.
Place into a saucepan and bring to a boil one stick of margarine, one cup of water, and five tablespoons of cocoa. Tip: Instead of margarine, we used a stick of butter.
When the mixture has come to a boil, take it off and pour it over a bowl with the already mixed dry ingredients.
Stir it up.
Add half a cup of buttermilk, a teaspoon of vanilla, a teaspoon of baking soda, and two eggs and mix.
Grease your dish.
Pour the mixture into the greased dish and put it into the oven to 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Check it constantly. Tip: You can insert a knife or a toothpick into the cake, and if it comes out clean, then the cake is ready.

Frosting:

Tip: Make your frosting about five minutes before your cake is completely baked.
Melt one stick of margarine of butter, four tablespoons of cocoa, and 1/3 cup of milk together.
Stir constantly.
When the mixture is homogenous and uniform, add one box of powdered sugar, one tablespoon of vanilla, one cup chopped pecans, one pinch of salt.
Mix all the ingredients.

Cover the cake with the frosting and let it cool for a few minutes.

This week, the team prepared sautéed chicken and vegetables, celebrating the end of National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month! Also, they had two special guests preparing peach cobbler, 2021 West Bladen Graduate Cara Beth, and 2021 East Bladen Graduate A.J.

Next week, Bladen Online will publish the ingredients and directions from this week’s video.
