TAR HEEL –Karla Mejia fired in the game-winning goal Monday as Tar Heel’s Lady Panthers remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory over East Columbus in Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls soccer action.
Mejia’s drilled a shot that the Lady Hawk goalie couldn’t handle, and the ball rolled through her arms and into the goal for a 2-1 Tar Heel lead.
Lady Panther goalie Jamaiya Ballard blocked an East Columbus penalty kick with 5 minutes remaining and had one other save during the game.
Leidi Zuniga banged in a free kick from outside the box midway the 1st half to put Tar Heel in front 1-0. East Columbus answered on a free kick midway the 2nd half to tie the game 1-1.
Coach Brett Jackson’s Lady Panthers raised their record to 5-0 and will travel to West Columbus next Monday.
