ST PAULS – East Bladen’s Jacob Knuth finished 2nd, and teammate Johnny Alvarado placed 5th in Wednesday’s Southeastern Athletic Conference meet.
Knuth finished with a time of 19 minutes, 18 seconds and was just 14 seconds behind meet winner Cristian Cruz of Clinton. Johnny Alvarado clocked in with a time of 20 minutes, 22 seconds.
In the girls race, West Bladen’s Kirsten Warrick finished 10th with a time of 29 minutes, 45 seconds. Teammate Brooke Singletary was 14 seconds behind Warrick in 11th place.
East Bladen’s Heidi Ventura claimed 12th place in the girls race with a time of 30 minutes, 5 seconds. Teammate Brianna Phillips was 36th (40:18).
The Knights were without 2 top 5 finishers from last week – Demon’tre Love and Lainey Autry due to illness and injury.
Other West Bladen runners in the girls meet were: Kaden Thurman, 20th place (32:05); Olivia Allen, 22nd place (32:17); Violet Allen, 28th place (35:06).
Other East Bladen runners in the boys meet were: Hunter Demery, 17th place (23:06); Conner Padrick, 23rd place (24:34); Ivan Alvarado, 31st place (27:23); Andrew Lin, 32nd place (28:16).
West Bladen’s Jaiden Ward was in 42nd place (31:48).
The final regular season meet of the season will be next Wednesday at Midway.
