Well, sometimes football teams don’t go along with the predictions. Such was the case in Week 6 with its 12-6 record. With picks such as South Columbus over James Kenan — Kenan won 40-0 — it was a well deserved unacceptable week.
But, we press on to Week 7 and start in Chapel Hill where the preseason overrated Tar Heels (2-2, 1-2 ACC) host rival Duke (3-1, 0-0 ACC) in the Battle For The Victory Bell. Is it basketball season yet?
UNC has beaten Duke the past two seasons, has won both its games at Kenan Stadium this season and lost both of its games away from Chapel Hill this season. That’s all you need to know. NORTH CAROLINA 35, DUKE 24.

EAST BLADEN 26, FAIRMONT 12: A quick turnaround for the Eagles after beating West Bladen on Tuesday. East Bladen has won 12 straight against the Golden Tornadoes dating back to 2004.
CLINTON 34, MIDWAY 25: An early showdown in the Southeastern Conference. The Dark Horses should be able to contain an explosive Midway offense enough to get the win.
WHITEVILLE 49, EAST COLUMBUS 12: The Wolfpack has won the last seven in the series against the Gators and should not have any trouble making it eight straight.
PENDER 20, SOUTH COLUMBUS 12: If the Stallions can find some offense they can get their first win of the season, but points have been hard to come by for South Columbus this season.
WEST COLUMBUS 35, TRASK 22: The Vikings open Waccamaw Conference play with a victory.
COLLEGE
WAKE FOREST 35, LOUISVILLE 20: The Deacons proved how good they are after manhandling Virginia. An Atlantic Division championship is certainly within reach.
N.C. STATE 42, LOUISIANA TECH 19: It will be interesting to see how the Wolfpack responds against a nonconference opponent after knocking off Clemson.
EAST CAROLINA 27, TULANE 24: It’s homecoming in Greenville so maybe that will inspire the Pirates to open American Conference play with a win. Tulane has won the past three meetings.
FAYETTEVILLE STATE 56, LINCOLN 7: This Broncos team is capable of winning the CIAA championship. Lincoln has been outscored 136-13 in four losses this season.
HUNTINGDON 26, METHODIST 20: The trip to Alabama is a tough one for the Monarchs. They can give the Hawks a battle, but likely fall short on the road.
NORTH ALABAMA 24, CAMPBELL 21: Don’t let North Alabama’s 0-4 record fool you. The Lions have played four teams that are receiving votes in FCS Top 25 polls.
FROSTBURG STATE 33, UNC PEMBROKE 21: The Braves let one slip away last week against Fairmont State. This week they face one of the top teams in the Mountain East Conference.

DALLAS 31, CAROLINA 17: The Panthers have been fun to watch, but the unbeaten season comes to end, especially without Christian McCaffrey.
