The Bladen County Board of Commissioners will hold their next regular meeting on November 1st, 2021. As usual, the meeting will be held in the Commissioner’s Room, located in the lower level of Bladen County Courthouse in Elizabethtown. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 pm.

Following invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, the board will discuss and approve consent items. These include the proposed agenda, minutes of the previous meeting on October 18th, budget amendments, county attorney invoices, 2021 General Records Retention Schedule, 2021 Program Records Schedule, and the rescheduling of the second November Regular Board of Commissioners Meeting for Monday, November 22nd.

Next, individuals will have their first opportunity to address the Board of Commissioners, followed by matters of interest to the commissioners.

Chuck Heustess will discuss economic development, giving an update regarding the Delton Expansion Forgivable Loan, then proposing the consideration of scheduling a public hearing to receive comments on the matter. He proposes this to take place at 6:30 pm on Monday, November 22nd.

Nathan Dowless with Emergency Services will propose declaring a vehicle surplus and authorizing county staff to begin the process of conveying a surplus vehicle to Bladen County Water Rescue.

Bladen County Health Director, Dr. Teresa (Terri) Duncan will then give a COVID-19 update. Next on the agenda are Advisory Board Appointments.

County Manager Greg Martin will give a calendar review, propose approving Employee Appreciation, give an update regarding Broadband availability in East Arcadia, give an update regarding economic development, and propose scheduling a special meeting to discuss the Tar Heel School Project on Monday, November 22nd at 5:30 pm.

Followed by Manager Martin, individuals and delegates will be given a second opportunity to address the Board of Commissioners. Finally, matters of interest and correspondence will lead up to recess until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 2nd to discuss the redistricting process.
