CARY – West Bladen’s girls finished 10th and East Bladen’s boys claimed 11th place in the NCHSAA Class 2A Mid East Cross Country Regionals that were held Saturday at the WakeMed Soccer Complex.

Eagle freshman Johnny Alvarado posted the highest finish for a Bladen runner Saturday taking 33rd place points with a time of 19 minutes, 48.85 seconds. East Bladen junior Jacob Knuth finished in 37th place with a time of 19 minutes, 59.55 seconds.

Other East Bladen runners competing were: freshman Hunter Demery, 70th place (23:39.68); Andrew Lin, 71st place (24:21.86); freshman Ivan Alvarado, 73rd place (24:42.90); Jacob Caulder 77th place, (25:49.08).

The Eagles totaled 284 points. Ninth-place finisher Clinton had 257 points, and Dark Horse freshman Cristian Ortiz recorded the highest regional finish (19th) for a Southeastern Athletic Conference runner with a time of 18:30.33.

West Bladen freshman Demon’tre Love posted a 62nd place finish with a time of 22:57.79.

North Carolina School of Science & Math placed 5 runners in the top 12 led by champion Andrew Parker (16:09.35).

Junior Kirsten Warwick recorded the highest finish for a Bladen girl taking 46th place with a time of 27 minutes, 21.42 seconds. Freshman teammate Brookee Singletary finished 51st with a time of 27:55.80.

Other West Bladen runners were: junior Lainey Autry, 53rd place (28:15.25); junior Kaden Thurman, 55th place (29:08.94); senior Olivia Allen, 62nd place (32:15.62).

The Lady Knights were 10th with 267 points. Midway placed 8th with 201 points led by Madissen Canady who captured 33rd place with a time of 25:09.06.

East Bladen freshman Heide Ventura was 58th in the girls’ race with a time of 30:11.39. Junior teammate Brianna Phillips placed 65th with a time of 37:24.05.

NC School of Science & Math placed 7 runners in the top 10 in the girls race and had a winning score of 20 points led by junior Caitlyn Elliott who won the race with a time of 19:14.06.
