WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) released the following statement reflecting on the first year of the 117th Congress:

“First and foremost, effectively serving my constituents has and always will continue to be my top priority in Congress, and I will keep working to address the needs of the citizens and communities throughout the 7th Congressional District. 

“I have spent the first year of the 117th Congress meeting with constituents, hosting and attending events in the district, reading and responding to constituent letters, introducing legislation after hearing about issues impacting my constituents, helping those dealing with federal agencies, and working to address the issues facing our nation.

“As we begin a new year, I will continue fighting for an agenda focused on revitalizing our economy, getting people back to work, lowering costs for families, and restoring opportunity for everyone.” 

In 2021, Congressman Rouzer:

  • Introduced ten bills, many of which started as an idea from NC-07 residents. (more information below)
  • Resolved 2,386 cases for constituents dealing with the federal government.
  • Cosponsored 169 pieces of legislation to help NC-07 families and businesses.
  • Flew seventy-two flags over the U.S. Capitol for constituents.
  • Sent fifty-five email newsletters directly to constituents.
  • Read and responded to 44,692 constituent letters and emails.

  • After urging the Corps to act, Rouzer announced the approval of funding for the Carolina Beach and Kure Beach renourishment project.
  • Rouzer helped advance the 2020 WHIP+ Reauthorization Act out of the House Agriculture Committee.
  • Rouzer announced $200 million in Pandemic Assistance to provide relief to timber harvesting and timber hauling businesses that have experienced losses due to COVID-19.
  • Rouzer relaunched the bipartisan Congressional Agritourism Caucus.
  • Rouzer led a letter to President Biden in response to a cybersecurity attack on the Colonial Pipeline Company.
