BLADENBORO – Tylik McCall and Kendell Lesane sparked a 14-5 3rd period spurt that snapped a 12-12 tie and propelled Bladenboro to a 37-26 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday night.
McCall buried a 3-point shot and another basket, and Lesane worked the paint for a pair of hoops. Teammate Gavin Elks nailed a 3-point shot, and Jackson Pait tossed in a basket as the Bulldogs opened up a 26-17 lead.
Keyshawn Kemp threw in a basket for the Blue Devils in the period, Dasheon Campbell sank 2 free throws, and Isaiah Robinson made a foul shot. Jackson Smith drilled in a 3-point shot in the final quarter. Kemp and Claxton Tatum popped in baskets, and Campbell cashed in 2 free throws.
Lesane and Elks pumped in 2 baskets each in the final quarter to keep the Bulldogs on top. McCall contributed a basket, and Jonah Bryan converted a free throw.
McCall led the Bulldogs with 13 points, and Lesane finished with 10 points. Elks rang up 7 points, and Pait followed with 6 points. Kemp topped the CSD scoring list with 13 points, and Campbell tallied 7 points.
Campbell sparked the Blue Devils to an early 5-4 lead with 3 free throws, and Kemp netted a basket. Pait popped in a basket for Bladenboro, and McCall canned 2 free throws.
McCall rallied the Bulldogs with a pair of 2nd period baskets, and Pait and Lesane delivered a basket each as the Bulldogs evened the count 12-12. Kemp lit up the scoreboard with a 3-point basket and 2 more baskets to keep the Blue Devils even.
Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season and will play at Williams Township Thursday. Clarkton, now 1-2, will host Williams Township Tuesday.
