WHITEVILLE – Jenna Brice struck out 14 batters and pitched a 5-hitter Tuesday to lead Emereau Bladen to a 3-1 non-conference middle school softball victory over Whiteville Central.

Brice walked 4 and hit a batter. A 5th inning 2-out triple followed by a walk and a single produced the lone Lady Hornet run.

Tatum Allen and Taylor Dowless smacked 1-out singles in the Lady Aviator 3rd inning. Tatum Allen stole 3rd base and raced home on a wild pitch. Dowless stole 3rd base and dashed home on Brice’s fielder’s choice.

The Lady Aviators tacked on an insurance run in the 6th inning. Dowless reached base on a passed 3rd strike then stole her way around the bases, stealing home to score the run.

After Brice struck out the first 2 batters in the 7th inning, a pair of Central hits put 2 runners on base. However Bristol Allen snared a fly ball to right field to end the game.

Dowless and Tatum Allen collected the only hits for Emereau in the game. Dowless scored 2 runs, and Tatum Allen scored one. Brice had a run batted in.

Coach David Allen’s Lady Aviators improved to 3-0 and will travel to Williams Township Thursday.
