FAIRMONT – Juniors Noah Parker and Nate Jones combined to pitch a 3-hitter and strike out 15 batters Tuesday night as Fairmont defeated East Bladen 6-2 in Southeastern Athletic Conference baseball action.

Parker started and worked 6 innings on the hill allowing 2 runs – 1 earned – on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 14. Jones pitched a scoreless 7th inning in relief allowing a walk and striking out one.

Junior Malachi Gales walked in the Fairmont 1st inning, raced to 3rd base on Parker’s single and scored on a passed 3rd strike.

Catcher Garrison Tatum was hit by a pitch in the Eagle 4th inning and his courtesy runner, Darius Williamson, advanced on an error then raced home with the tying run when Evan Pait blasted a double to center field.

Jones drew a lead-off walk in the Tornado 5th inning, sprinted to 3rd base on an error and scored the go-ahead run on senior NyNy Cromartie’s single.

A trio of walks, 2 errors and senior Ridge Walters’ single produced 4 Fairmont runs in the sixth inning.

Sophomore Tyler Johnson led off the Eagle 7th inning with a single to center field. Cole Butler ran for Tyler Johnson, advanced on an error and a fielder’s choice before scoring as senior Raymond Autry reached base on an error.

Tyler Johnson batted 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Eagle hiters, and Pait doubled home a run. Williamson and Butler scored the Eagle runs.

Pait started on the mound and pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 runs – 1 earned – on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 12. Autry worked an inning of relief and was charged with 4 runs – 2 earned – on 3 walks and a hit. Autry struck out one.

It was the first conference loss for the Eagles, who are 2-1 in SAC-7 play and 6-3 overall. East Bladen will host Fairmont in a rematch Friday night.
