CLARKTON – Keyshawn Kemp blasted a 3-run home run and led Clarkton School of Discovery to a 15-7 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tabor City Wednesday.

Aidan Trinidad singled and Hunter Wood walked, before Kemp walloped his 3-run homer. Jaxon Hair followed with a single and scored as Joshua Strickland reached base on an error to give the Blue Devils a 4-2 lead.

Trinidad cracked a single, and Wood reached on an error in the 2nd inning. Claxton Tatum clobbered a triple that scored both runners, and Tatum darted home on a passed ball. Cayden Moore reached base on an error, and Kemp knocked him in with a single. Strickland drove in Kemp with a single and later scored to stretch the CSD lead to 10-2.

Wood, Tatum and Cayden Moore all drew walks in the Blue Devil 3rd inning and all of them scored on passed balls to keep Clarkton ahead 13-6. Tatum belted a single, and Cayden Moore walked in the 5th inning, and both of them scored.

Tatum batted 2-for-3 with the triple, scored 3 runs and had 2 runs batted in. Trinidad finished 3-for-4 at the plate and scored twice. Kemp was 2-for-4 with the home run, 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Strickland and Hair added 1 hit each and scored 1 run each. Strickland had an RBI. Wood and Cayden Moore scored 3 runs each and both of them walked twice.

Kyran McKoy pitched for Clarkton and allowed 7 runs on 7 hits and 6 walks while striking out eight.

Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils evened their record at 3-3 and will host Nakina Monday.
