Rockets 4, Riptide 0

Maycee Kinlaw struck out 15 batters and walloped a home run to lead the Rockets to a 4-0 victory over the Riptide Wednesday in the opening game of Bladen Recreation’s 8-10 Softball season.

Kinlaw and the Riptide’s Mollie Sasser combined to strike out 26 batters, and the 2 teams played 6 innings in 1 hour and 12 minutes which is thought to be a record for fastest 8-10 Softball League game ever.

Kinlaw drilled an inside-the-park home run to left-center field in the 1st inning. Teammate Carley Rhodes hammered a triple to right-center field in the 4th inning and scored when Kinlaw beat out an infield hit. Kinlaw later scored to pad the lead to 3-0.

Kylee Davenport smacked a single in the 5th inning and scored the final Rocket run. Harper Allen yanked a single to left for the other Rocket hit.

Sasser finished with 11 strikeouts for the Riptide and also belted a single for the lone Riptide hit.

Bandits 8, Heat 7

The Bandits withstood a furious 5-run Heat rally in the final inning to escape with an 8-7 victory in the Bladen Recreation 8-10 Softball opener for both teams.

The Bandits built a 6-2 lead then tacked on 2 more runs to pad their lead to 8-2, before the final Heat rally. Laikyn Rogerson struck out the side in the 2nd inning for the Bandits and finished with 8 strikeouts in the game.
