Dixie Boys Baseball: GreenJackets 3, Yard Goats 1

Braylon Cromartie pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless relief and knocked in the go-ahead run with a 2nd inning single as the GreenJackets defeated the Yard Goats 3-1 Monday in Dixie Boys Baseball action at Bladen County Park.

Cromatie worked out of a 2nd inning jam with a ground out and a strikeout and finished with 3 strikeouts while giving up 1 hit and 4 walks. Teammate C. J. McCracken retired the one batter that he faced to pick up the save. Colton Daly started and pitched 1.1 innings for the GreenJackets allowing 1 run on a hit and 4 walks.

Tyler Lewis pitched 5 strong innings for the Yard Goats and struck out 12 batters, while allowing 3 unearned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks.

Ryan Dove yanked a 1-out single to left field in the Yard Goat 1st inning but was retired on Coley Sasser’s fielder’s choice. Caison Brixey and Jamari Adams-Peterson drew walks, and JaDarius McArthur was hit by a pitch to force home Sasser with the Yard Goat run.

Zach Sholar drew a 1-out walk in the GreenJacket half of the first, stole 2nd base and circled the bases on a wild pitch and a passed ball to tie the score 1-1.

McCracken reached base on an error in the GreenJacket 2nd inning, stole 2nd base and raced home when Cromartie smacked a single to center field. Cromatie stole 2nd base, moved up on a passed ball and dashed home on a wild pitch to pad the lead to 3-1.

Cromatie, Jaxon Hair, Isaiah Lee and Torrean Cogdell belted 1 single each to account for the GreenJacket hits. Dove and McArthur connected for 1 hit for the Yard Goats.
