DUBLIN – Bladen Community College will host a “Be the Match” bone marrow event on Monday, October 26th, from 11 AM until 2 PM. If you are between the ages of 18 and 44, are willing to donate to any patient in need, and meet certain health guidelines, a simple swab of tissue from your cheek can place you on the bone marrow registry list.

Every year, 12,000 patients with a blood cancer like leukemia, or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a bone marrow transplant to live. “Be the Match” is a non-profit community of donors, volunteers, researchers, and health care professionals that create opportunities for caring individuals to join the registry.

The event takes place in the Bladen Community College Student Center in building 2. No appointment is necessary and the public is invited to participate. For more information about the college or about “Be the Match”, call Crystal Dowd at 910 879-5620.
