Thoughts While Shaving

December 31, 2015 has arrived.  All those things you thought you would/should accomplish this year have hopefully been fulfilled.  If not, just a few hours remain.

More rain is expected today and tonight.  As of 6 a.m. today, we have received nearly 64 inches of rain this year in Bladen County.  Our annual average is 48 to 50 inches.  And most of this year’s rain followed a near drought in the late spring and early summer.

According to Tim Armstrong at the US Weather Service in Wilmington, 2015 is the fourth wettest year on record for Bladen County since 1910.  He also indicated with the inch or so expected prior to the end of the year, could make this year the third wettest month.  The top 4 years for Bladen, according to Armstrong, are 1996, 2003, 1999 and 2015.  The NWS weather sites include the Curtis Brown Airport near Elizabethtown.

Best you take the umbrella with you today…..90% possibility of rain today and 80% for New Years Eve.  There are ditches with water that have had little or no standing water for a long, long time.

NC State Wolfpack and UNC Tar Heels still need improvement in football play to reach the upper echelon of the NCAA ranks.

As you look back at 2015, what were the highlights and moments or events you would rather forget?

I love calling Bladen County home, and I enjoy keeping up with what is going on in the county by reading BladenOnline.  And I do believe The Best Is Yet To Come.

As you begin a new year, thoughts and suggestions:

1) Stay positive,

2) When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement:  My purpose is___________.

3) Take a morning walk of gratitude.

4) Instead of being disappointed about where your are…think optimistically about where you are going.

5) Eat…breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college student with a maxed out credit card.

There are others, but let’s end with…Enjoy the ride.

Happy New Year to all.
