ChrisJamesStoryBladen County native Chris James is excited and enthusiastic as he talks about his music career.

James has been busy recently following a move to Nashville, Tenn. to work on advancing his vocation.

“I’ve been wanting to move there for a while,” said James.

He said he has not been disappointed with the relocation. Since his move, James has been involved in an internship with Red Ridge Entertainment that involves booking shows for artists, playing in his own shows, creating a business plan for investors, and working on writing a new album.

James said the internship involves learning about the many business aspects of the music industry such as marketing and promotions.

“I’m learning the business side of music. I’m learning a lot and its opening up a lot of doors,” said James.

He said aside from learning about the business side of the music industry, he is also working on a new album.

James gave a small hint about the new album’s songs. He said the songs will talk about what it is like to grow up in a small town and what it is like having to create your own fun. This mirrors James’ own life as he grew up in Clarkton.

James said he hopes to have the new album ready for release by January 2017. He said the album should be ready for recording sometime this spring and James said he hope to have it be ready for release as an independent artist in 2017.

To the delight of his fans here in Bladen County, he said that he has plans to play in some shows in the Wilmington area in the summer. Folks can learn about upcoming show dates, times, and locations of shows on musicchrisjames.com. James said in addition to show dates, the website allows people to ask questions, watch videos and listen to James’ music. He has released a demo EP entitled What I Wanna Do.

James said he enjoys hearing from his fans, especially those from Bladen County.

He said his next goal is to build his social media following and, in the process, to gain new fans.
