Four County Electric Membership Corporation has donated 5,000 dollars through its Operation Round Up® TRUST Fund to Bladenboro Fire Department to purchase a thermal imaging camera for their firefighters. The camera will allow firefighters to see areas of heat through smoke, darkness or heat-permeable barriers. Thermal imaging cameras can “see” through darkness or smoke and allow firefighters to quickly find the base of a structure fire, or see the heat sign of visually buried victims.

“We have one thermal infrared camera we’re presently using, but with the purchase of one more camera we’ll be providing additional safety for the community and our firefighters,” Fire Chief Jackie Coleman stated. “We’re extremely grateful to the Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® Program for helping us get another thermal infrared camera for the department.”

Since Operation Round Up® began in 1994, over 2.6 million dollars has been awarded to Four County EMC members in crisis situations and non-profit organizations that provide assistance and services to the Cooperative’s members.

Four County EMC is a member-owned electric cooperative serving over 32,500 members in Bladen, Duplin, Pender, Sampson, Columbus and Onslow counties.
