Sheriff James A. McVicker revealed today that an arrest has been made on a church breaking and entering that occurred on Tuesday, February 23rd. McVicker said the arrest came after deputies responded to a report of a broken window at the Butters Baptist Church at approximately 3:00 p.m.

“Responding deputies caught the suspect inside the building and were able to make the arrest,” said McVicker.

Arrested was Trisha Ann Sessoms, 19, of 98 Butters Loop Road, Bladenboro. Sessoms was charged with two counts of Injury to Real Property, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, Breaking and Entering a Place of Worship, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

She is currently in Bladen County Jail under a $16,000.00 secured bond.

“Thanks to citizens who saw suspicious activity and called 911 we were able to actually apprehend Ms. Sessoms in the act,” said McVicker. He continued, “This is a great example of how much we depend on the eyes and ears of the community.”
