Fairmont native William McGirt, who played the Carolina Sands Golf Course (now Vineyard Golf At White Lake) quite a bit during his high school career, is now in 16th place in the Fed Ex standings on the Professional Golf Association tour.
The Fed Ex champion will receive $10,000,000. McGirt has won once this year and compiled many top 20 finishes. McGirt has won a total of $3,086,597 through July 27. Leading the Fed Ex standings is Dustin Johnson of Myrtle Beach, S.C. with winnings of $7,210,435.
