An update of road openings / closing is as follows:
OPENINGS:
NC 242 South
NC 242 is open. This completes the pipe replacement work on NC 242
UPCOMING CLOSINGS:
SR 1131 – Webb Faulk Road
Beginning Monday, August 1, at 8 a.m., we plan to close SR 1131 (Webb Faulk Road) at a location just north of NC 211-Business in order to replace a crossline ahead of an NCRS drainage project (this location is between NC 211-Business and the county recycling center). The work is expected to be completed by Thursday.
ELWELL FERRY:
River levels are finally down in the 15 range for the first time this year so water levels are no longer an issue. Expect normal operation.
OTHER:
Our road oil crew is currently placing chip seals on NC 242 between Elizabethtown and Bladenboro. When this section is complete, they will be moving to NC 242 from NC 410 to the Columbus County line. Use caution and reduce speed to 35 mph when traveling on newly placed chip seals.
