TEACHEY – Wallace-Rose Hill scored 5 first-half goals en route to an 8-0 Four County Conference men’s soccer victory Monday night over East Bladen.

“Wallace Rose Hill is a very well coached, solid soccer team,” said Eagle Coach Jay Raynor. “They came out very aggressive and scored a couple goals on us early.  It took us a while to adjust to their speed, scheme, and intensity. We were only able to get one quality shot on goal in the first half.”

Coach Raynor challenged his team to step up their effort in the second half and they responded.

“Goalie Spencer Scott had an awesome game with 13 saves,” stated Raynor. “They were pounding shots on goal and he continually turned them away.”

Raynor also praised the backline play of Dan Tatum, Keyshaun Davis, Ezekiel Artega, and Gabe Barber. “They played really hard and slowed Wallace-Rose Hill significantly in the second half,” he said. “Pierce Melvin and Grey Cabalerro also gave us solid play in the midfield during the second half.”

“We managed two quality shots on goal in the second half,” continued Coach Raynor. “We showed a lot of heart and determination in battling a Bulldog team that is really good and very fast.  We will learn from this game and come back focused on Wednesday against Union.”

The Eagles are now 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Wallace-Rose Hill jayvees defeated the East Bladen jayvees 9-0 in a preliminary game.
