The fifth annual Woodmen Life Christmas Tournament will tap off Wednesday afternoon at West Bladen and will continue through Friday with 4 games each day.

West Bladen (5-2), the two-time defending Woodmen Life champions, has won 5 games in a row will battle North Brunswick (2-7) in Wednesday’s 8 p.m. game. The two teams have a common opponent – South Brunswick. West Bladen split with South Brunswick, while North Brunswick beat the Cougars 58-55. Seniors Sayaun Dent and John Bowen lead the Knight attack.

At 6 p.m. Whiteville (2-2) will play First Flight (7-3). First Flight averages 86 points and 15.5 3-point shots per game. Freshman Dylan Blake has pumped in 41 3-pointers, and sophmore Reese Jones has connected on 35 3-balls for the Nighthawks. Coach Jerry Singletary’s Wolfpack won the first two Woodmen Life championships in 2013 and 2014 and are led by high-scoring 6-4 senior Tyrell Kirk who lit up Red Springs for 35 points earlier this season.

In the 4 p.m. game Fairmont (5-1) will battle East Bladen (0-7). The Tornadoes won the Robeson County Shoot-out and avenged their only loss of the season to Lumberton in the title game. Shoot-out MVP Jarique Moore directs the Tornado offense that also features forward Julius Caulder and Derrick Arnette. Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles are led by senior guard Eian Hines and Demetrius Wooten.

Scotland (6-3) will play Dillon (2-5) at 2 p.m. in Wednesday’s opening game. Dillon is led by guards Rakeem Fletcher and Keenan Norman. The Wildcats were not at full strength early in the season due to their football team playing in the state championship game. Scotland’s Niem Ratliffe, a 5-9 senior, averages over 20 points per game.
