BURGAW – Freshman Tyre Boykin poured in 18 of his 21 points in the second half as West Bladen’s jayvee boys outlasted Pender 45-41 Wednesday night in Four County Conference basketball action.

Boykin bombed in a first quarter 3-point shot then nailed two more 3-point shots in the third quarter and added another basket. Boykin sank 6 of 6 free throws and two more baskets in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Tra’shawn Ballard threw in baskets in the first and second quarter, made a free throw then buried a 3-point shot in the third quarter to finish with 8 points.

Sophmore Kerron Washington pumped in a basket in the first quarter and connected for 2 more baskets in the second period to total 6 points in the game.

Jaheim Lesane popped in baskets in the second and fourth quarters for the Knights. Freshman Shemaiah Leak tossed in baskets in the first and third periods. Both finished with 4 points. Center Jason Moore scored a fourth quarter basket.

Coach Taurius Baker’s Knights improved to 4-5 with the win and will host Heide Trask Friday night.
