Late Wednesday afternoon East Bladen grad Larrell Murchison signed a National Letter of Intent to play football next season at North Carolina State University.

“It has been a crazy 24 hours,” said East Bladen Coach Robby Priest. “I can’t wait to see my phone bill.”

Murchison had been scheduled to sign his Letter of Intent in a ceremony at East Bladen at 2 p.m. Wednesday. That ceremony was cancelled early Wednesday morning.

Larrell had earlier given an oral committment to Mississippi, but after visits to Texas and Georgia, he had flipped his decision and was prepared to sign with the University of Georgia.

According to Coach Priest, Georgia pulled their scholarship offer Tuesday night and at 9 p.m. Tuesday night North Carolina State entered the picture. “State jumped in, had a scholarship left and snatched him up,” said Priest.

Murchison, a 6-4 290-pound defensive tackle, played the last two seasons at Louisburg College and was a team captain and Honorable Mention All-American this past season as the Hurricanes posted a perfect 9-0 record.

Larrell will have 2 years of eligibility remaining at N. C. State and will have a 3 year time limit in which he can use those 2 years of eligibility on the field.
