Happy Groundhog Day.

According to forklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on February 2, spring will arrive early, some time before the vernal equinox; if is it sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its den, and winter weather will persist for six more weeks, that according to Wikipedia. The largest Groundhog Day celebration is held annually in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Super Bowl Sunday is drawing near. This year’s game pits the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons. Super Bowl LI (51st) will be held at NRG Stadium (formerly Reliant Stadium) in Houston, Texas. The game will be televised on FOX network, game time, 6:30 P.M.

Think it will be good when/if the HB2 issue is behind us.

Yesterday was a busy day for the Murchison family. Larrell was set to sign a National Letter of Intent with Georgia at East Bladen at 2 PM. That was cancelled. John Clark’s article on our sports page has the details. He will play his final 2 years of college football at NC State. Many locals and State supporters are excited. Coach Dave Doeren was on the phone to EB coach Robby Priest early Wednesday morning when it was disclosed that Georgia had ‘pulled’ their scholarship offer. Larrell also had offers from Ole Miss and a couple of other Division 1 schools. Go Wolfpack.
