BLADENBORO – Khadijah Jones poured in 14 points to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 32-15 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketbsll victory over Bladenboro Tuesday.
Jones and Lauren Bowen threw in 2 baskets each in the first quarter, and teammate AnnaGrey Heustess sank a basket and 2 free throws as the Lady Blue Devils raced to a 12-2 lead. Savannah Turbeville scored the only basket for the Lady Bulldogs in the period.
Lainey Autry rallied Bladenboro with a pair of second quarter baskets, and Hannah Pait tossed in a basket and a free throw as the Lady Bulldogs closed the gap to 18-9 at halftime.
Jones kept the Lady Blue Devils in front with a pair of second period baskets, and teammate Mariah Smith added a basket.
Mariah Smith drained a 3-point shot, and Heustess and Lauryn Williams tossed in a basket each as the Lady Blue Devils stretched their lead to 25-13. Autry and Ellie Smith pumped in baskets for Bladenboro in the quarter.
Jones fired in 3 baskets in the final period, and Bowen hit a free throw for Clarkton. Autry connected for the final Bladenboro basket and topped the Lady Bulldog scoring with 8 points.
Heustess followed Jones on the Clarkton scoring list with 6 points, and Bowen and Mariah Smith finished with 5 points each.
Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils remained unbeaten with a 5-0 record. Bladenboro completed their regular season schedule with a 2-4 record.
