East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Ty Watkins pitched a 4-hitter Monday night as East Bladen’s Eagles rode a 5-run fourth-inning to a 10-2 victory over Clinton in Four County Conference baseball action.

Watkins struck out three, walked 2, hit a batter and allowed only one earned run.

Junior Sincere Smith cracked a one-out single in the East Bladen first inning and circled the bases on a pair of passed balls. Senior Kyle Tatum laced a single, stole second base, took third on a passed ball and scooted home when Watkins delivered a single.

Sophmore Shy Pone walloped a triple in the second inning and darted home when Smith belted a single for a 3-1 Eagle lead.

The Dark Horses pulled to within 3-2 in the third, before the Eagle explosion in the fourth. Sophmore Greyson Heustess walked, and junior Deondre Newkirk was hit by a pitch. Consecutive walks to Pone, Smith and Tatum forced home Heustess and Newkirk.

Watkins smacked a single that scored Pone, and junior Quinton Bedsole knocked in Smith with a single as the lead grew to 8-2.

Pone reached on an error in the East Bladen fifth inning. Tatum walked, and Wooten connected for a single that scored Pone. Tatum scored on a balk.

Smith batted 2-2 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Watkins finished 2-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s. Pone tripled and scored 3 runs. Tatum had the rbi single and scored 3 runs.

Wooten and Bedsole delivered rbi singles. Heustess singled and scored a run, and Newkirk scored a run.

Coach Russell Priest’s Eagles improved to 4-1 in league play and 5-3 overall. East Bladen will host Union Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
