Mark Johnson, the NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, will visit West Lumberton Elementary School at 9:40 a.m., and the relocated site of Lumberton Junior High School following Hurricane Matthew at 11:10 a.m., on Thursday as part of his NC Education & Innovation Tour. Earlier this year, Johnson pledged to conduct a listening tour to hear directly from educators, parents and community leaders across North Carolina.

“Robeson County was significantly affected by Hurricane Matthew earlier this school year,” said Johnson. “I will see how the school community has rebounded and hear their concerns to determine how we can best continue to assist during the recovery.”

Johnson also will attend the Master’s in School Administration Conference at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 8:30 until 9:15 a.m.
