West Bladen High School LogoThree-time defending champion West Bladen has been named the top seed in the 2015 Robeson County Slugfest Softball Tournament that begins Saturday, April 4th at South Robeson High School.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights rallied from a 9-1 deficit to edge Purnell Swett 10-9 in the 2012 Slugfest title game at Lumberton. In 2013 West Bladen outscored Swett 9-6 in the championship game that was played on the Lady Rams home field. Last year the Lady Knights hammered Fairmont 14-4 in the title game at Red Springs.

West Bladen (4-2 this season) will play No. 8 seed St. Pauls (1-6) at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Knights defeated St. Pauls 20-1 earlier this season.

A win over the Lady Bulldogs would send the Lady Knights into a semi-final game against the winner of the first round game between No. 4 seed Red Springs (3-2) and No. 5 Hoke County (6-2).

The other half of the bracket features No. 2 seed Fairmont (3-3), No. 3 Lumberton (2-4), No. 6 seed Purnell Swett (2-7) and No. 7 seed South Robeson (1-4).

Semi-final games will be played on Monday, April 6th and the championship game will be played on Tuesday, April 7th.
