WASHINGTON – This morning, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) spoke with Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson regarding additional funding to help eastern North Carolina recover from Hurricane Matthew.

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), other Members of the North Carolina Congressional delegation, and Governor Roy Cooper (D-NC) also participated in the conference call.

“Previous estimates for Hurricane Matthew funding were not based on the most current data,” said Congressman Pittenger.  “Thanks to our efforts, Secretary Carson gave me assurance HUD would use the most updated data from FEMA to calculate the remaining needs in North Carolina.

“As we move forward in a bipartisan manner, I will continue to work with Appropriations Chair Frelinghuysen and remain committed to ensuring the concerns of those in Robeson, Cumberland, Bladen, and Scotland counties are heard in Washington.”

Local residents who need assistance with FEMA or other federal issues should contact Congressman Pittenger’s Fayetteville office at 910-303-0669 or Charlotte office at 704-362-1060.
