Karli Priest batted 3-3 and pitched two hitless innings to lead the Racers to a 15-4 victory over the Sandpipers in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action Thursday night at County Park.

Priest struck out 4 and allowed only a walk in her two innings in the circle. Teammate Amber Jones pitched the final 2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk while striking out four.

Zoe Smith, Kailey Heath and Weslyn Hall all drew walks and scored in the Racers 6-run first-inning. Priest and Hailey Guyton cracked singles and scored runs, and Jones was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Natalie Spears also smacked a single in the inning.

Lauren Hammonds was hit by a pitch, Smith walked and Emma Turbeville reached base on a fielder’s choice in the Racers second inning. All three scored runs. Priest ripped a 2-run triple to leftfield and later scored.

Guyton and Hannah Cole belted singles and scored runs, and Jones slammed a 2-run double and scored to stretch the lead to 12-0.

Turbeville was hit by a pitch in the top of the fourth and raced home when Priest walloped a double to centerfield. Priest later scored, and Cole walked and scored as Jones and Kailey Heath connected for singles in the inning.

Dyiamon Robinson broke up the Racers no-hit bid with a single in the fourth inning. Maegan Burney laced a single, and AnnaGrey Heustess was hit by a pitch.

Alyssa Strickland walked, and Robinson, Burney, Heustess and Strickland all scored runs in the inning. Stacey Gomez and Briley Stanley smashed singles in the inning.

Robinson, Burney, Gomez and Stanley led the Sandpipers with one hit each. Strickland pitched all 4 innings and struck out eight.

Priest drove in 3 runs and scored three. Jones batted 2-2 with the rbi double. Guyton finished 2-3 at the plate. Cole, Hammonds and Spears added one hit each.
