Bladen County will hold a Pet Palooza for the first time in June to benefit the Bladen County Animal Shelter. With the help of local businesses like Kuraray America, Inc., in Bladen County and Bladen Animal Hospital in Elizabethtown the fundraiser is off to a great start according to one of the event organizers, Mike Jackson, Chairman of the Animal Control Advisory Board.
Jackson said, “Kuraray is active in the community and supporting community efforts.” The funds go to support the Bladen County Animal Shelter’s non-profit fund for the construction of an animal exercise area.
Ross Crews, Plant Manager of Kuraray , said one of Kuraray ’s guiding principle is to support the community.  “It’s important we (Kuraray) support activities our employees are involved in,” said Mr. Crews. He said supporting events like the Pet Palooza is one way the company can encourage its employees to be active in their local communities.
Kuraray and Bladen Animal Hospital are both Pet Partners of the Pet Palooza by donating $500 each. More sponsorships are coming in as well according to the planning committee of the Bladen County Animal Control Advisory Board.
