RED SPRINGS – West Robeson American rallied for 6 runs in the fourth inning to defeat Elizabethtown 7-2 Sunday in the District 9 Dixie Youth Baseball Tournament AAA (Minors) Tournament.

The game began on Saturday but after Davion Lewis and Cole Butler drew walks, rain suspended play until Sunday. After both runners advanced on a passed ball, Garrett Dunham launched a sacrifice fly to right-centerfield that scored Lewis and a throwing error on the play scored Butler for a 2-0 Elizabethtown lead.

West Robeson turned a hit batter and 2 singles into a run in the home half of the first and trimmed the margin to 2-1. Elizabethtown held the 2-1 lead until the home half of the fourth.

Three walks, a wild pitch and a short sacrifice fly plated a pair of two-out runs and put West Robeson ahead 3-2. Two walks and two West Robeson hits plated 4 more runs, before a diving catch by Colton Daly in rightfield ended the inning.

Butler lined a single to leftfield in the sixth inning for the only Elizabethtown hit.

Dunham started on the mound for Elizabethtown and pitched 3.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 4 walks and 3 hits while striking out two. Torrean Cogdell worked 1.1 innings of relief and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out one.
