East Bladen’s track and field teams were not able to compete in an official meet in 2020 as the coronavirus halted sports activities less than a week before their first Three Rivers Conference meet.

The Lady Eagles finished 3rd in the 2019 Three Rivers Conference championship meet and were expecting a banner year in 2020. Senior Alicia McKiver was the defending TRC champion in the 400-meter dash.

McKiver was also a member of East Bladen’s TRC champion 4×400 meter relay team along with Rachel Horrell, Teronda Autry, Aaniya Jackson, Gemizha Stephens and Anette Munoz-Ventura.

The Lady Eagles recorded runner-up TRC finishes in 2019 by: LaKendra Jones in the discus; Vianey Estrada in the 3200 meters; Autry in the 400 meters; and the 4×800 meter relay team of Estrada, Autry, Vena Metz, Horrell and Stephens.

East Bladen’s 4×200 meter relay team of Jackson, Makia Johnson, Aniyah McKoy and Azariah Rhodie finished third in the 2019 TRC meet.

The Eagle boys top TRC performance in 2019 was turned in by Cody Long who finished second in the discus. A.J. Smith posted 4th place TRC finishes in both the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs.

East Bladen’s 4×100 relay team of Deonte Johnson, Timothy McLean, Za’Quis Leach, Lawson Hester and Corey Melvin also claimed a 4th place finish.

Fifth-place East Bladen finishers in the 2019 TRC meet were Wisdom Northern in the high jump, and the 4×800 meter relay team of Tayshaun Berkeley, Olando Murchison, A. J. Smith, Damondta Smith and Efren Vargas.

Eagle seniors who completed their high school careers included: Olando Murchison, Caleb Robbins, Tayshaun Berkeley, Za’Quis Leach, Wisdom Northern, Lawson Hester, LaKendra Jones, Alicia McKiver, Rachel Horrell, Vianey Estrada, and Lila McDuffie.
