PEMBROKE – West Bladen grad Abbey Walters pitched 4 innings to pick up her second win in two days as her UNC-Pembroke Lady Braves defeated West Virginia State 7-1 Saturday morning in the UNCP Invitational.

 

Walters allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out two. The West Bladen grad walked and scored a run during the Lady Braves 4-run first inning.

 

In a Saturday afternoon game, the Lady Braves rallied with 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but Kutztown captured the 5-4 extra-inning victory with a run in the eighth.

 

Walters cracked a single to centerfield and scored a run during the seventh inning rally.

 

The Lady Braves, now 2-2, will conclude play in the UNCP Invitational at noon Sunday against Shippensburg
