Bladen County Emergency Services, Elizabethtown Fire Department and Elizabethtown Police Department were dispatched to Walmart in Elizabethtown Thursday afternoon in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle call.

According to a bystander’s report a female was struck by a vehicle while walking in the Walmart parking lot.

Elizabethtown Fire Chief, Nick West stated the patient was being transported to the hospital by ambulance. The patient did not appear to have any life threating injuries.

The driver of the vehicle in the accident said he was backing up and ran into a lady behind him loading her car with items. According to the driver, the pedestrian was in his blind spot.

Elizabethtown Police Department on the scene were busy making a report about the incident at the time of publication. According to the driver of the vehicle involved, he did receive several citation, one of which included driving without a license. The vehicle involved was insured.
