Vineyard Golf completed their club championship tournament last weekend. Junior Nance, tournament director, did a great job with the flights. There were flights for every age golfer with the exception of super senior golfers (75 and older). Nance stated that they were continuing to tweak the process and they would take into consideration adding this flight next year. There were 14 players who qualified for the championship division thus leading Nance to have a club champion and a “B” division also.

The club champion, Bobby Davis, shot a six-under 66 the first day and followed that up with a 77. Some low scores, par or better, recorded in the two-day event were Jake Womble 71, Adam McCaa 72, Junior Nance 72, Ricky Marvin 72, Nile Brisson 72, Brian Tart 71, Willie McMillian 71, and Stacy Owen 70.

Local golfer Kayla Thompson just missed qualifying for tournament status for the coming year by missing the cut by two strokes.

Cade Hancock, in his first college tournament at Mt. Olive College, came in second place. Cade is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hancock.
