Advanced tickets are on sale now for Bladen County Playwright LoWanda Davis’ newest production, “Why Me? 2.” The play will be held on September 3 at the Elizabethtown Middle School at 5 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 4 p.m.  Advanced tickets cost $20 each and VIP advanced tickets cost $30 each. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for a cost of $25 each and VIP tickets can be purchased at the door at a cost of $35 each.

Playwright LoWanda Davis said the play features special guests Gospel comedian LaSalle LaSalle, Caleb Sasser, Betty Jacobs and Judge Pauline Hankins will speak. The event will be hosted by Elder Alcindor Hankins.

Davis said the play is a continuation of a production from 2011 called, “Why Me?” She said the play features the character Clarissa, who originally appeared in “Why Me?” Davis said that Clarissa is a young female character who is addicted to drugs.

“A lot of people wanted me to bring her back,” said Davis.

 

She said in the play, Clarissa stumbles upon Aunt Shug and Sadie and they try to help Clarissa become clean and sober.

“Basically, I wanted to put it out there to young people or someone on drugs that someone will help you. You have to let it be known you want help,” said Davis.
