On Monday, June 18th, civil rights attorney Anita Earls will officially file to run for the North Carolina Supreme Court.  Congressman GK Butterfield and former Governor Jim Hunt will speak at the event in support of Anita Earls’ candidacy.  Judicial candidates for the NC Court of Appeals, Judge John S. Arrowood, Allegra Collins and Toby Hampson, will also be filing officially and speaking at the event.

As the founder and director of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, Anita is best known for leading North Carolina’s landmark case against unconstitutional racial gerrymandering in legislative districts. Anita is now running for the North Carolina Supreme Court because she believes North Carolinians deserve an independent court where the rules are same for every North Carolinian, not just political insiders or powerful special interests.
