The Elizabethtown Airport Terminal building is on the move to its new resting on the south end of the runway. The terminal building was moved on Thursday to make room for the construction of a new terminal facility.

The new terminal facility will feature classroom space which can be used for flight schools or by the community as meeting space. It will also feature a pilot’s lounge, a conference room, a lobby, office space,  restroom facilities, and storage.  The project is being funded through a $1.2 million grant package. The construction of the new facility is expected to be 10 months.

The town initially decided to move the old terminal building to the Elizabethtown Public Works Building located on Swanzy Street to serve as office space. Those plans had to be abandoned due to costly restrictions imposed on the move by Duke Energy. It was decided in the May town council meeting to relocate the old terminal and at least one business has expressed interest in using the facility for office space.
