Joann AndersonJoann Anderson, president and CEO of Southeastern Health in Lumberton, is the newly installed chair of the North Carolina Hospital Association’s (NCHA) Board of Trustees. She recently presided over the 2016 NCHA Winter Membership Meeting Feb. 18-19 in Cary, where she gave remarks to a gathering of about 400 hospital and health system leaders.

Anderson has been an active participant in NCHA activities, serving as chair of the policy development committee and chair-elect of the Board of Trustees.

“We are fortunate to have Joann’s voice and her leadership on our Board,” said Bill Pully, NCHA President. “She brings an important perspective on rural health issues at the state and national level that is invaluable as we navigate unprecedented changes in healthcare delivery in North Carolina.”

Anderson joined Southeastern Health as president and CEO in May 2007. Prior to coming to North Carolina, she was chief executive officer of Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky, her home state, for 10 years. Anderson holds a master’s degree in Nursing and has led Southeastern Health to achieve Magnet recognition for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

In addition to her leadership in NCHA, Anderson chairs the American Hospital Association’s Section for Small or Rural Hospitals and serves as North Carolina Regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives. Last year, she was named to Becker’s list of the top 50 rural hospital CEOs to know.
