On a day not fit for man nor beast with temps reaching near 100 degrees, 18 teams teed it up Friday to participate in the 2022 Rotary International Golf Tournament at Vineyard Golf at White Lake. The event kicks off the annual White Lake Water Festival.
The Elizabethtown Rotary Club spotlighted their scholarship winners before the tournament started. The club awarded five scholarships.
Weslyn Hall, Mary Katelyn Lennon, Jayden M. Willington, and Justin McAllister were given their awards and Bladen Community College will select the other scholarship award winner at a later date.
The winning team in Flight 1 was the Melvin’s team with a 56. Second place went to the Hester, Grady and Hester team with a 57.
The winning team in Flight 2 was the Jeremy White Team with a score of 62. Second place, also with a 62, went to the Eddie White Insurance Team.
All ties were determined by a scorecard playoff.
Men’s long drive was won by David Coble and Closest to the Hole was won by Pam Davis.
