The annual Fourth of July Sidewalk Sale saw shoppers out enjoying the beautiful weather and  and checking out the bargains on Friday.  The event draws area shoppers as well as shoppers from Fayetteville, Columbus County and Sampson County and those visiting White Lake.

Dainne and Donnie Godwin of Sampson County stopped to enjoy a hamburger from Melvins and were enjoying the warm afternoon. The couple was traveling from their home to the beach when they decided to stop.

“It’s just a nice day,” said Dianne Godwin.

The couple also noted they were enjoying the friendly atmosphere and even found time to hunt for a bargain or two during their visit.

Judith Hemingway and her sister, Ethel Pickett, were also taking advantage of the sale. They had traveled from Whiteville to visit their brother at the Elizabethtown Nursing Center. While they were in Elizabethtown, they decided to check out some of the sale items.

The Sidewalk Sale will continue Saturday and Monday.  Don’t forget the annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Goldston’s Beach at White Lake on Monday night. The fireworks will begin at dark (about 9 p.m).
