The photo above is of the suspect Robby Ernest Mills of White Oak. 

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office stated they responded to a call on Monday, August 16, due to a subject suffering from a gunshot wound on Leighton Lane in White Oak.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, upon arrival, deputies observed an older white male standing in the corner of the yard with his hands up and a handgun lying to the left of him on the ground. Deputies observed another white male lying on the ground near the home’s front door, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement identified the victim as Jeremy Wade Brown, a 39-year-old, from Gum Springs Road in White Oak. Brown was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect of the shooting was identified by law enforcement as Robby Ernest Mills. Mills is a 46-year-old of Gum Springs Road in White Oak and was charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. Mills was placed in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $7,500.00 secure bond.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office reported the crime occurred because of an ongoing argument and trespassing incident.

According to the United States Constitution, suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
