CLIFFORD GRAHAMThe Bladen County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person in connection with a shooting that happened on Sunday afternoon.

“Bladen County EMS received a report of a shooting early Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival of law enforcement they learned that two men had been shot, one in the foot and one in the knee,” said Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker.

Maurice Bowen, 40, of 365 Troy and Graham Road, Riegelwood, was transported to New Hanover Regional Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated and released, according to McVicker.

Gerald Holland, 58, of 703 Black Rock Road, Riegelwood, was transported to Columbus County Hospital and treated and released, according to McVicker.

The exact motive for the shooting has not been determined but alcohol played a role in the altercation, said McVicker.

Arrested was Clifford Graham, age 75, of 38 Private Road, Riegelwood. He was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

McVicker said Graham was placed in Bladen County Jail Sunday afternoon on a $1 million bond pending a first appearance hearing in Bladen County District Court on Monday.
